The Inland Northwest is SPOILED surrounded by 5 ski resorts within 2 hours of Spokane/CDA area. These ski resorts provide a variety of skiing and snowboarding experiences, from laid-back, family-friendly resorts to larger mountains with challenging terrain. All are within a convenient drive from Spokane/CDA, making them ideal for day trips or weekend getaways. 
 
Mount Spokane Ski & Snowboard Park
• Distance from Spokane: 1 hour (28 miles)
• Overview: Located in Mount Spokane State Park, this is the closest ski resort to Spokane. It offers a variety of terrain for skiers and snowboarders, including beginner, intermediate, and advanced slopes.
Schweitzer Mountain Resort
• Distance from Spokane: 1 hour 50 minutes (85 miles)
• Location: Sandpoint, Idaho
• Overview: The largest ski resort in Idaho, Schweitzer offers incredible views of Lake Pend Oreille and a wide range of terrain for all skill levels, including plenty of backcountry options.
Silver Mountain Resort
• Distance from Spokane: 1 hour 20 minutes (68 miles)
• Location: Kellogg, Idaho
• Overview: A resort known for its vast terrain and year-round activities, including skiing, snowboarding, and a large indoor water park.
49° North Mountain Resort
Distance from Spokane: 1 hour 30 minutes (58 miles)
• Overview: Located near Chewelah, this family-friendly resort offers a laid-back atmosphere and extensive terrain for all skill levels.
Lookout Pass Ski & Recreation Area
• Distance from Spokane: 1 hour (28 miles)
• Overview: Located in Mount Spokane State Park, this is the closest ski resort to Spokane. It offers a variety of terrain for skiers and snowboarders, including beginner, intermediate, and advanced slopes.
 

You will see us most often on Mt Spokane due to the close proximity, great beginner slopes (have 4 young kiddos learning), and friendly instructors! We've done a full winter at Silver Mountain; we love this one for the conveience of the gondola!

 

1. Mount Spokane Ski and Snowboard Park: Located just 28 miles from downtown Spokane, Mount Spokane offers breathtaking views and an extensive trail system. With over 45 named runs and a variety of terrain parks, it's an excellent option for skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels. The resort also has a cozy lodge, equipment rentals, and ski lessons for beginners.

2. 49 Degrees North Mountain Resort: Nestled in the Chewelah Mountains, 49 Degrees North is about a 1.5-hour drive from Spokane. This resort boasts an impressive average snowfall of 301 inches, ensuring fantastic skiing conditions throughout the winter season. With 82 trails spread over 2,325 acres, 49 Degrees North is perfect for those seeking adventure. The resort also offers tubing, snowshoeing, and Nordic skiing for those looking to mix up their winter activities.

3. Schweitzer Mountain Resort: Although a bit further from Spokane (about 2 hours), Schweitzer Mountain Resort is definitely worth the drive. Located in Sandpoint, Idaho, this resort is known for its vast terrain and stunning views of Lake Pend Oreille. With 2,900 acres of skiable terrain and 92 trails, Schweitzer offers an exhilarating experience for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. The resort also features a charming village with various dining options, shopping, and even spa facilities for those looking to relax after a day on the slopes.

4. Lookout Pass Ski & Recreation Area: Situated on the Idaho-Montana border, Lookout Pass is less than a two-hour drive from Spokane. Despite being one of the smaller resorts in the area, it offers excellent skiing opportunities. With 34 named runs and a dedicated learning area for beginners, Lookout Pass is a great choice for families and those looking for a more relaxed skiing experience. The resort is known for its friendly atmosphere and affordable prices, making it an ideal option for those on a budget.

5. Silver Mountain Resort: Just over an hour's drive from Spokane, Silver Mountain Resort is a true gem in the region. This resort offers a unique experience with a gondola that takes you from the base of the mountain to the charming mountain village at the top. With 73 trails and a wide range of difficulty levels, Silver Mountain is suitable for all skill levels. After a day on the slopes, visitors can enjoy the resort's indoor water park, making it an excellent option for families.
